Select Company Industry

During Account & Domain setup, open the Industry dropdown and select your company's sector (for example IT, Finance, or Healthcare) — Hoicko HRMS uses this to apply sensible defaults across shifts, holidays, and leave types.

Picking the right industry isn't just a label sitting on your company profile — it's one of the first signals Hoicko HRMS uses to tailor the rest of your setup experience. Different industries tend to run very different HR patterns. An IT company might run a single general shift with flexible work-from-home days; a retail or manufacturing business might need multiple rotating shifts and stricter location-based attendance; a healthcare provider might need round-the-clock shift coverage with mandatory handover windows. Setting your industry correctly at the start means the defaults you see later — suggested leave types, holiday patterns, shift templates — are closer to what you'll actually want to configure, saving you from having to build every single setting from a blank slate.

It's a small step in the flow, but it's worth pausing on rather than clicking through quickly, since it's one of the few settings that influences several other modules indirectly rather than just its own screen.

Step-by-step:

1. On the Account & Domain Info screen, locate the Industry field, positioned just below your Company Name.
2. Click the dropdown and choose your company's sector from the list — common options include IT, Finance, and Healthcare, among others depending on what's configured for your region.
3. Confirm the selection shows correctly in the field before moving on — the system will not let you continue without an Industry selected, since it's a mandatory field.
4. Continue to Enable HRMS For to select which users or teams this configuration applies to.
5. Select the user or team from the Select user field, based on how broadly you want this first configuration to apply.
6. Click Next to move on to organizational structure setup.

Can I change my industry setting after setup?

Yes, this can be updated later from Account & Domain Info. It's best set correctly at onboarding, though, since some downstream defaults are generated at the time of initial setup rather than re-generated automatically every time you change the field.

Does industry selection restrict which features I can use?

No—every Hoicko HRMS feature remains fully available regardless of which industry you select. The setting only influences suggested defaults and doesn't lock you out of anything.

What if my company spans multiple industries?

Choose whichever sector best represents your primary business activity. You can still fully customize leave types, shifts, and holidays afterward regardless of the industry selected, so this isn't a hard constraint on your final configuration.
