Converting Leads to Inquiries
Updated 8/13/20262 min read
Once a lead reaches the Converted stage, click Select Convert Lead and confirm—this action is final and cannot be undone, so Hoicko CRM adds an explicit confirmation step to prevent accidental conversions.
Why conversion is a one-way action: an inquiry carries forward pricing, logistics, and SAP-linked commercial data that a lead simply doesn't have yet. Once that data starts flowing—quotations get generated, approvals get requested—reversing the conversion would leave orphaned downstream records. Rather than allow that mess, Hoicko CRM treats conversion as a checkpoint: get the lead fully qualified and validated first, then convert once, deliberately.
Steps to convert a lead:
- Open the lead and move it to the Converted stage (this requires the Contacted and Qualification forms to already be complete—see Article 2.3).
- Click Select Convert Lead.
- A confirmation dialog appears: "Are you sure you want to convert [Company Name]? This action cannot be undone."
- Click Convert to proceed, or Cancel to go back and review the lead further.
The complete Lead Process Workflow—six checkpoints, start to finish:
- Create Lead—mandatory field validation before submission ensures no lead enters the pipeline incomplete
- Lead Report—displays all created leads with filters, so nothing gets lost in a long list
- Lead Details—The About, Get In Touch, and History sections give full visibility into every lead
- Status Workflow—leads move through New → Contacted → Qualification → Converted in strict order
Image - Forms Required—The Contacted and Qualification forms must be completed before each stage move
- Double Validation—required before lead conversion to inquiry, combining both the stage forms and the explicit conversion confirmation
Together, this workflow means that by the time any lead becomes an inquiry, it has passed through mandatory field checks, two-stage-specific validation forms, and a final human-confirmed conversion click—a level of built-in rigor that keeps your inquiry pipeline clean of half-qualified opportunities.
FAQ
- What happens to lead activities (tickets, calls, visits) after conversion?
They remain part of the lead's history and are visible from the resulting inquiry's linked history, preserving the full relationship timeline.
- Can a lead be converted before qualification is marked complete?
No—the Converted stage itself is gated behind completing the prior Contacted and Qualification validation forms.
